THE DOCTOR’S CALL: The month of November has been declared as National Children’s Month through Republic Act No. 10661 signed by the late President Benigno Aquino III.
This time of pandemic, it is vital for hospitals to continue to address other medical needs of minors as they are also part of the vulnerable sector.
Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital (JJASGH) is a district hospital of the City of Manila in District 3 focused on addressing the concerns of mothers and pedia.
Hospital director Dr. Merle Sacdalan-Faustino said that based on statistics in 2020, among the top medical cases facing by the pediatric group are: Pneumonia, Dengue, and Sepsis.
In order to address these concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic, medical attention to minors is continuously given on-site and through the help of telemedicine.
According to her, close-coordination with other institutions are also being held to further strengthen the programs of JJASGH. Intensive information dissemination is also on works in the hospital’s social media accounts.
The hospital director assured the parents of the pediatric group seeking help in their hospital that children are being properly separated with suspected COVID-19 patients.
Dr. Sacdalan-Faustino ended that the COVID-19 pandemic will not hamper the medical attention given by Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital to the pediatric group.
“Umasa kayo na lahat ng serbisyong medikal na kayang ibigay ng aming ospital ay ibibigay namin upang patuloy nating maproteksyunan ang mga pag-asa ng ating bayan,” she said.
