The Manila Health Department on Wednesday, June 10, conducted rapid tests on more than 200 employees of the Bureau of Immigration in line with the mass testing operations in the capital city of the country.
MHD medical personnel set up rapid testing booths at the agency’s releasing area for clearances and certificates where physical distancing was strictly observed.
According to the MHD, more than 800 BI employees will be undergoing rapid tests. About 200 were scheduled on Monday. More will be tested this week, the MHD said.
Melvin Mabulac, OIC spokesperson for the bureau, expressed their gratitude to the Manila City government for conducting rapid tests on their fellow employees.
The bureau spokesperson also recognized the exemplary leadership of Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso during this time of crisis.
“The Bureau of Immigration headed by Commissioner Jaime H. Morente extends our gratitude to the assistance extended by he City Government of Manila with the exemplary leadership of Mayor Isko Moreno for this successful Rapid Testing,” Mabulac said.
“We recognize the importance of conducting COVID-19 rapid testing to our BI personnel, this is to ensure that health and welfare of our employees and the transacting public as well, especially during this COVID crisis,” he said.
Mabulac said the bureau supports Mayor Isko’s campaign to fight and beat the COVID-19 crisis.
“We have to understand that the backbone of BI’s day to day operations heavily depends on our employees particularly the rank file,” Mabulac said.
“We are one in support to the campaign of Mayor Isko to fight against this COVID 19 pandemic. We fight as one, we heal as one,” he said. —JNL
