NEWS ALERT: The City of Manila allows not wearing of face masks in open and not heavily crowded places as amended by Ordinance No. 8901.

It amended the Ordinance No. 8627 that requires the mandatory use of face mask in all public places within Manila City.

The City Council of Manila headed by Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto enacted the ordinance that was sponsored by Majority Leader Councilor Jong Isip, Jr. last September 13, 2022 in accordance to the mandate of President Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos, Jr. under Executive Order No. 03 Series of 2022.

However, wearing of face mask is highly encouraged for senior citizens, unvaccinated individuals, and those and are immunocompromised. Minimum physical distancing should also be observed.

Furthermore, wearing of face mask remains mandatory in places where the minimum physical distance could not be mantained.

In her live special report, Manila Mayor Dr. Honey Lacuna reminded the citizens of Manila to remain cautious despite this amendment.

Unvaccinated and not fully vaccinated individuals are highly encouraged to get fully vaccinated while fully vaccinated individuals are highly encouraged to get their booster shots.

She also encourages the continuous observance of the minimum health protocols like constant hand washing and maintaining proper physical distancing. (MYV)
