Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso believes that herd immunity may be achieved by September through the government’s continuous vaccination drive.
Domagoso made the remark on Tuesday, May 18 after the city broke its own record for vaccine deployment in a single day.
“We broke again our record of vaccines deployed and 95% of that is the first dose,” Domagoso said in an interview with CNN Philippines.
“The point is ang mga LGU gamitin lang nang husto ng national government, tingin ko ma-achieve natin ang ating goal by September na magkaroon ng herd immunity, ma-reach ang 70% vaccinated,” the Mayor added.
Data from the Manila Health Department (MHD) showed that 15,763 persons were jabbed with COVID-19 vaccines approved for use by the national government.
About 14,364 of the 15,763 vaccinated individuals availed Sinovac vaccines, 23 used PFizer vaccines, and some 1,363 individuals have received their second dose of vaccination.
