The Manila City government broke ground on Monday, September 6, the 20-storey San Sebastian Residences in Quiapo.
Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso said that the local government will continue to address the plight of the public amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Walang magiging iskwater sa Maynila pagdating ng panahon. May awa ang Diyos. Nagawa ng ibang bansa, nagawa nila, kaya rin nating magawa dito sa Lungsod ng Maynila,” Domagoso said.
According to the Mayor, the city government will not stop in giving dignity to those in need while also addressing other concerns.
The statement of Domagoso was echoed by Manila City Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan as she said that having an own house increases the dignity of the people.
“Kinikilala natin ang karapatan ng bawat nilalang na magkaroon ng ligtas, disente, at abot kayang tuluyan na matatawag nilang sariling pag-aari—dahil tinataguyod nito ang dignidad ng tao,” she said.
The San Sebastian Residences will cater about 243 families in its 40 square meters unit.
It will have the following ameneties: 243 residential units, 58 parking slots, health center, police sub station, four elevator for residential units, swimming pool, function room, fitness center, roof garden at 20th floor roof deck, three units rentable space, activity areas at 6th, 10th, and 14th floors, roof deck play area at 18th floor, and roof garden.
“Bilisan natin ang kilos, iisang bangka tayo. Sama-sama tayong maglalayag sa alon, unos, sa gitna ng karagatan, ngunit hindi tayo titigil,” Domagoso said.
“Lalakbayain natin at kakaharapin natin ang lahat ng hamon na ito, hamon ng ating buhay at sigurado ako ang committment namin kayo kasama niyo kami sa barkong iyan. Hindi namin kayo iiwan,” the Mayor added.
