Acting City Health Officer Dr. Arnold “Poks” M. Pangan, RSW led the opening of new pharmacy storages in the City of Manila’s district health centers.
The opening was made a day before the celebration of the World Pharmacists Day in September 25.
According to Dr. Pangan, the new pharmacy storages were opened to decentralize the distribution of medicines and to expedite its release.
The medicine supplies were purchased by the city government, while some were given by Department of Health (DOH) and donated by private organizations.
The six districts will also get their medicines from the pharmacy storages as city residents and government employees who need medications may get it for free.
Meanwhile, the World Pharmacists Day is celebrated every 25th of September to promote awareness about the importance and role of pharmacists in providing quality health service.
This celebration was formalized by the International Pharmaceutical Federation Council at the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Istanbul, Turkey back in 2009. —SA/SNO
