The Manila City government on Tuesday inked a memorandum of agreement with PayMaya to provide citizen benefits card for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and solo parents.
Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso signed the memorandum with top officials of PayMaya during a ceremony at the Bulwagang Katipunan on Tuesday, September 17.
Joining Domagoso were Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) chief Joy Dawis and Public Employment Services Office (PESO) chief Fernan Bermejo.
Under the memorandum of agreement, PayMaya will issue ID cards to beneficiaries where they will receive their monthly allowances so they won’t have to go to Manila City Hall or other government offices anymore.
In addition, beneficiaries can also use other financial services once they link the card to the PayMaya app.
“Walang mayaman, walang middle-class, walang mahirap. Ano ang susi? PayMaya ang susi. Gusto kong ipabatid sa inyo, laway-laway lang ito. Walang tosgas (gastos),” Domagoso said during the ceremony.
“Kung talagang gustong tumulong ng gobyerno, tumulong na lang ng walang hinihintay na kapalit,” he added.
To recall, Domagoso earlier signed Ordinance No. 8565 granting a P500 monthly allowance for senior citizens, PWDs and solo parents who are residents of the City of Manila. The implementation will begin January next year.
To receive the monthly stipends, beneficiaries must be residents and registered voters of the city.
For senior citizens, the beneficiary must be included in the masterlist of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).
PWDs and solo parents, meanwhile, must be included in the masterlist of the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW).
