LOOK: Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan graces the 121st anniversary of the Manila Fire District on Monday, August 8.

She was joined by Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr., secretary of Department of Interior and Local Government, and Bureau of Fire Chief FDir. Louie Puracan Ceo VI in celebrating the occasion.

Manila Fire District Director SSupt Crossbee Gumowang presents the history of the Manila Fire District when it was established on August 7, 1901 during the colonization of US.

Now, it is represented by 407 firemen and women, who responds to an average of 1-3 fire incidents daily.

Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan expressed her appreciation for the sacrifices of fire fighters in the city.

“No noble thing can be done without risks, and you are always willing to take the risk, there are times, you are even doing the ultimate sacrifice in order to save others,” the mayor said.

“We in the city government of Manila are truly grateful with all your noble contribution; your help goes beyond a firefighter,” she added.

F/SSupt Crossbee Gumowang also presented future plans for the Manila Fire District, such as acquisition of equipment for better fire protection services and adoption of online frontline service.
