NEWS ALERT: Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso announced on Friday, September 10, that the Department of Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) has commended the Manila Anti-Drug Council (MADAC) for its accomplishments. “We thank DILG-NCR for this recognition,” said Domagoso. “Ginawa po natin ang abot ng ating makakaya para ipatupad ang batas kontra droga.”
The City of Manila participated in the 2021 Anti-Drug Council (ADAC) Performance Audit under the Highly Urbanized City (HUC) category. The audit focused on the MADAC’s performance in 2020. The audit results revealed that the LGU got a score of 85/100 for its anti-drug efforts, indicating that MADAC is “highly functional.”
In a letter addressed to Domagoso — dated September 7 and released on September 9 — DILG-NCR regional director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin wrote: “The ADAC Regional Audit Team (ART) commends the Council for its accomplishments in introducing new ideas or innovation which added value in the implementation of the anti-illegal drugs programs.”
Attached to Agustin’s letter was a copy of the signed ADAC-Functionality Monitoring System (FMS) Generated Report. Agustin noted that the result was formally endorsed to the ADAC National Audit Team (ANT) for further validation.
“Patuloy po nating susundin ang due process sa ating pagpapatupad sa ating mga programang kontra droga,” Domagoso stated. “Hulihin po natin ang mga lumalabag sa batas na ito. Iharap natin sila sa hukuman para mabigyan ng parusa na naaayon rin sa batas. We respect the rights of people but we will also not tolerate any wrongdoing in Manila. Kapag may lumalabag sa batas, tiyak na huhulihin natin sila.”
