NEWS ALERT: Mayor Isko signs EO implementing granular lockdown in Manila

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso signed on Wednesday, September 15, an executive order implementing the guidelines on granular lockdown.

Domagoso signed Executive Order (EO) No. 28, a reiteration of the national government’s guidelines on the pilot implementation of Alert Levels system to mitigate the effect of COVID-19 in the country.

Manila City, and other cities in Metro Manila, have been placed under Alert Level 4 under general community quarantine by the national government starting Thursday, September 16.

“The authority to impose granular lockdown shall be exercised by the city mayor with respect to his component barangays subject to the concurrence of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF), and individual houses where one household member has been confirmed, residential buildings, streets, blocks, puroks, subdivisions, and/or villages within their jurisdiction,” the EO read.

Granular lockdown shall be for a period of not less than 14 days, and shall take effect immediately. The Manila Health Department, for its part, shall report to the Department of Interior and Local Government on the details of the granular lockdown.

Assistance to affected individuals shall also be provided by the local govenrnment, the barangay, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, in accordance with their relevant guidelines.

Members of the Manila Police Department will likewise ensure peace and order during the duration of the Alert Level 4 implementation.

Curfew hours in the City of Manila shall be from 10 pm until 4am starting Thursday, in accordance to the shift of quarantine status in the National Capital Region
