Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso opened the month of romance by launching ‘MayniLOVE’ at the Mehan Garden on Monday, February 1.
Domagoso said the Valentine’s event is part of the local government’s efforts to help small businesses recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re trying to do our best to generate sales, to generate businesses, so that we can protect whatever is left with regard to jobs or create more jobs. Whether it is temporary or permanent opportunity for every Manileño, we will do so,” Domagoso said.
“In our own little way, with the help of our vice mayor, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, the members of the city council, and the department heads, and sa ating mga kasamahan manggagawa ng pamahalaang lungsod, magtutulong-tulong kami upang mapalakas ang negosyo, upang mabuhay ang negosyo, upang mamaintain ang negosyo,” he added.
The Mayor also encouraged the public to visit Mehan Garden as a way of not only expressing love for their loved ones, but also to “help stall owners to make a living and to earn a living.”
“Enjoy the atmosphere. Enjoy the season. Enjoy the love. Show love, not hate,” Domagoso said.
The following are some of the offerings of the 35 booths participating in the event: candlelight dining experience with pianist and violinist, scented candles, photobooth, and flowers.
Manila City Vice Mayor Maria Sheilah ‘Honey’ Lacuna-Pangan, who also joined the launching, urged those who will participate to follow the safety protocols.
“Sa simpleng disiplina ay maipadadama po natin ang ating pag-ibig sa isa’t isa at malasakit natin sa ating mga kapwa hindi lamang mga Pilipino, mga Manileño, kung hindi po ang mga dumadayo dito sa Maynila,” Lacuna-Pangan said.
According to Bureau of Permits Director Levi Facundo, over 200 jobs were generated through the MayniLOVE event.
“This is still part of our Manila Support Local campaign which is our campaign to help businesses in Manila. So ang industriya ngayon ay karamihan nasa magbubulaklak,” Facundo said.
“It’s a labor of love. Mahigit 200 empleyo ang ating nagawa dito. Aside from renewal of business permits, narito ang Business Permit para patuloy na tulungan ang mga negosyo,” he added.
Facundo further noted that malls managed by SM, Robinson’s Place, Lucky China Town, Isetann, and Landers will participate for the ‘MayniLOVE.’
Coca-cola is also offering business opportunities for distributorship in Manila, as the Bureau of Permits and the Department of Trade and Industry will assist on the application and registration of business permits.
‘MayniLOVE’ is open to the public from February 1 to 15, starting 4pm to 11pm daily.
