Manila City police, barangay workers and health personnel have been directed to strictly enforce public health protocols in Divisoria as more shoppers are expected to flock Divisoria amid the holiday season.

Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso on Thursday, December 3, said he has ordered officers under the Manila Police District’s Moriones-Tondo (PS-2) and Meisic (PS-11) police stations and enforcers under the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) enforce public health standards amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Kaya sinasabihan namin talaga yung station commander at saka yung MTPB to reinforce yung ating tagapagpaalala sa mga tao,” Domagoso told Radyo Singko in an interview on Thursday morning.

“Kaya talagang malaking challenge. But, rest assured sa ating mga tagapakinig, we will continue to enforce minimum health standards in the area at aalagaan naman namin yung lugar,” he added.

Domagoso said the stretch of Recto, starting from Asuncion to Abad Santos, and the streets of Juan Luna and Soler, remain free from any kind of illegal obstruction.Vendors are only allowed to sell their products along Ylaya, perpendicular road to Recto, Carmen Planas, Tabora, and Elcano. The Mayor then asked for the public’s cooperation as he reminded those who wish to buy their Christmas gifts in Divisoria to follow the authorities.

“Hindi naman namin mapigilan na dumagsa ang tao sa Divisoria dahil maraming may gustong makadiskwento, pero paalala ko po mga kababayan, balewala po yang diskwento ninyo na makukuha kung maiimpeksyon lang kayo dahil nagpabaya tayo,” Domagoso said.
