World Surgical Foundation (WSF) Philippines President Dr. Lester Suntay and its board members paid a courtesy call on Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Wednesday, February 26 to discuss the construction of a children’s surgical hospital in Tondo.

The board members shared the goal of providing access to quality healthcare for children, especially for those who are diagnosed with congenital diseases and are in need of immediate surgery or care.

“Sa Manila po kasi walang Children’s Hospital. Talaga pong may problem sa surgical care worldwide, kaya ito pong hospital na gagawin namin magiging center for cholorectal [cancer], na first po in Southeast Asia,” one of the board members said.

Domagoso expressed his full support and his gratitude to the foundation and its benefactors and likewise shared the city government’s effort to provide decent healthcare through its local hospitals.

“You are welcome to Manila, thank you for helping us. The hospitals here in Manila, binubuhusan ko ‘yon, we hired nurses and promoted doctors so we will be prepared,” the Mayor said.
