Manila City Vice Mayor Dr. Honey Lacuna-Pangan and television personality Robi Domingo on Tuesday, October 15, led the Manila Water Foundation’s Global Handwashing Day celebration.

The event was held at the Mariano Marcos Memorial High School in Sta. Ana, Manila.

In a statement, Lacuna stressed that “prevention is better than cure” and that all citizens should always wash their hands.

“Upang maiwasan nga natin ang pagkakasakit ay isang pinaka-epektibong paraan ng pag-iingat ay ang paghuhugas ng ating mga kamay. Isa itong napakadali at pangkaraniwang gawain ngunit madalas nababale-wala at nakakaligtaan,” Lacuna said.

“Everyone should have access to the handwashing facilities. Kaya’t mula sa simpleng paghuhugas ng kamay ay hangad natin na sana’y makaugalian ng lahat,” she added.

Lacuna also said that it is important for all sectors to help spread the advocacy of encouraging everyone to regularly wash their hands.

“Mahalaga ang magkaka-ugnay na pagtutulungan ng lahat ng sector upang patuloy nating maipalaganap ang adbokasiyang ito,” the Manila City Vice Mayor said.

“Mula sa tahanan, paaralan, tanggapan, at kahit saan pa man, let us make it a habit, to always clean our hands,” she said.
