Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Tuesday, July 30, inspected the Bonifacio Monument while city hall employees were overlaying asphalt on the park surrounding it.

However, during the inspection, the Mayor saw the park’s vandalized walls and other structures.

This prompted the Mayor to initiate the construction of “hate walls” and “freedom walls” around the park in order to stop vandalism.

“I don’t see any joy or happiness that you will receive just messing around or messing up the walls, especially our statues,” Domagoso told reporters.

“It’s going to be a wall where they can express themselves in an artistic manner, or express their beliefs for that matter,” he said.
