Henry Sy, Jaworski, top taxpayers honored on Manila Day

The City of Manila in celebration of its 444th founding day had bestowed top honors on billionaire Henry Sy, basketball legend Sonny Jaworski and commediene-TV host Vice Ganda aka (Jose Marie Viceral) in a grand celebration held at the Manila Hotel last Tuesday night.
Former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, assisted by Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, handed down the plaques honoring 11 outstanding personalities who have made such a remarkable achievements that have contributed to the progress of the city as a criteria in selection.
The honorees for 2015 Manila Day were: Mercedes Pascual, Atty. Vincent Tanada, Edgar Maranan, engineers Robert So and Lorenzo Alconera, Eufronio Sulla, William Tieng, Carmelita Manahan, Jose Marie “Vice Ganda” Viceral, Robert Jaworski.
Henry Sy of the SM and Holdings Enterprise. They were conferred the highest honor that the city can give which is the Gat. Andres Bonifacio award.
Also during the same event, Estrada gave honors to the Manila Top Business and Real Property Taxpayers for 2015.
“Ladies and gentlemen each of you has done Manila proud and we are honored to bestow upon you the title of Outstanding Manilans.
Just as importantly, your taxes have given us back our financial independence which is necessary for us to decide on our future. With your help I can keep my promise to the people of this city before this year is over, Manila will be completely debt free,” Estrada said in his speech.
