  • MISSION

    • TO DEVELOP, FORMULATE AND IMPLEMENT BASIC AND RESPONSIVE POVERTY – ALLEVIATION AND SOCIAL PROTECTION PROGRAMS FOR AND WITH MANILANS.
    • Basic and responsive social services will be delivered to different clientele groups, the family children, women, person with disability, older persons and other disadvantage sectors to empower them and attain a certain level of economic sufficiency for survival and social improvement.

    • Specialized protective and rehabilitative services to children who are in conflict with the law, victims of abuse and trafficking, neglect and abandonment, ensuring that their rights are recognized.
    • Network with various organizations/ stakeholders for a partnership that will increase Department’s capacity to serve more power who are needy.

    • AS A PREMIER DEPARTMENT IN THE CITY OF MANILA, THE MDSW IS COMMITTED TO IMPROVE THE WELL-BEING AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE DISADVANTAGE AND MARGINALIZED SECTORS, THROUGH SUSTAINABLE, PRODUCTIVE ENDEAVORS AND EMPOWERING COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION.

     

     

  • OBJECTIVES

    To provide appropriate social services to City constituents in line with the mandate of the Department which specifically aims to:
    a. Enhance capabilities and social functioning of individuals and communities for self improvement and self-reliance.

     b. Afford residents with and effective service through creativity, vigor and pro-active scheme in performance among employees. 

     

     

    LEGAL MANDATE

    – Republic Act 4050 – provided for the creation of a Department of Social Welfare on June 18, 1964.

    – Republic Act 7160 – Local Government Code. ‘The Social Welfare Office shall take charge of the city welfare and development service’.

    – Republic Act 9433 – Magna Carta for Public Social Workers.
