A Farewell to Mayor Mel
President Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada offers a silent prayer for Former Manila Mayor Gemiliano “Mel” Lopez who passes away on New Year’s Day, January 1, at the age of 81. Mayor’s Lopez’s remains were brought to the City Hall’s Bulwagang Villegas earlier this afternoon as a tribute to his service to the city and give is former constituents, colleagues and friends an opportunity to pay their respects. In his eulogy, President Mayor Estrada described the late Mayor Lopez as a “freedom fighter and public servant without equal.” His Honor also expressed his belief that Mayor Lopez’s legacy of public service would live on in the work of his son, Cong. Manny Lopez (D2), and nephew Cong. Carlo Lopez (D2).
