Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan on Thursday, June 11, presented the Manila City government’s best practices against the COVID-19 pandemic to World Health Organization Western Pacific regional director Takeshi Kasai.
Also present during the meeting held at the Office of the Mayor were Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, DOH Assistant Regional Director Paz Corrales, City Health Officer Dr. Arnold Pangan and the city’s six district hospital directors.
Here are the key points of what the Mayor presented to the WHO:
-conversion of 58 health centers into contact tracing teams
-construction of the Manila Infectious Disease Control Center (MIDCC) at Sta Ana Hospital
-construction of 12 quarantine facilities in the city’s six districts to isolate suspected and probable cases of COVID-19
-aggressive Rapid Diagnostic Testing in communities
-partnership with St. Luke’s Medical Center, The Medical City, Chinese General Hospital, Singaporean Lab, PGH and Philippine Red Cross for PCR swab test processing
-construction of two RT-PCR laboratories at Sta Ana Hospital.
